Pine Furniture and Door stripping
Bygones are specialists in stripping and restoring old pine doors. The doors are stripped in our own acid baths and then skillfully repaired and restored in our onsite workshops. Resulting in beautiful antique pine doors that transform your home.

Old pine doors and furniture are stripped in a caustic acid solution. The residue is then removed by pressure washing. The items are left to dry slowly and naturally to avoid shrinking, then placed into a dehumidified storage area until the drying process is complete.

Next, any repairs can be undertaken. Holes or damaged areas are replaced with matching old pine and the piece is then sanded ready to receive the finish.

We have 100's of stripped doors in stock including many cupboard doors, external and Victorian vertical boarded doors in many different dimensions, styles, 2 or 4 or 6 panels, various beadings and a range of old fixtures and fittings are available for delivery throughout the UK.

Sand & Grit Blasting
Some things are just not suitable to be stripped chemically and for those things you can generally use sandblasting (oak for example). From our on site workshops we are able to sandblast most items (including fireplaces and garden furniture) back to their original condition, give our sales team a call for a quote.

Sanding & Waxing
At Bygones we are also able to provide you with your choice of finishes. When doors have been stripped to bare wood we further sand them to ensure a perfect finish and offer you the choice of clear, antique pine, medium oak and dark oak wax coatings for truly beautiful antique pine doors.

Where you may have an odd shaped opening or the door style you would like is simply not available Bygones is able to produce bespoke doors to meet your needs. Our trained sales team are happy to guide you through measurements and provide you with quotes.

With years of experience Bygones skilled glaziers are able work from bespoke designs, reproduce and repair designs to just about anything you can imagine. We stock a wide range of our own designs to fit any door, window or anything you care to glaze. This also includes sand blasted, acid etched glass and triple glazed units - leaded glass sandwiched in clear glass and sealed.
